Recart sets you up for a very good start with abandoned cart emails. We ensure outstanding delivery rates, all our email templates are mobile-friendly, and we even give you default email content, to make sure you can start your campaigns immediately.

However, if you want to make the most out of your abandoned cart email campaigns, there are still a few things you can do to increase your conversion rates and recover as many sales as possible.

Edit the subject and body content of your emails

We do our best to make our default emails effective for all of our users. However, eCommerce is not a one-size-fits-all type of business, so there is no one single solution that will be effective for all stores. For that reason, we encourage you to personalize your email content.

Make your subject line stand out

The first thing to get right is your subject line as this will determine if your users even acknowledge your emails. Most of us receive loads of promotional emails and we only care about the ones that impress us. The subject line is your chance to show your potential customer that your offer is worth their attention.

Keep your subject lines short, simple and personal. You can also experiment with some witty and funny lines, depending on your brand personality.

Offering a discount in cart abandonment emails can be very effective, so you should at least consider offering 10% off or free shipping for abandoned carts and highlighting your offer in your subject line.

Including emojis in your subject line is also a great way to impress your users at a glance. Use http://getemoji.com to copy and paste emojis into your subject line in the Recart template editor.

Here are a few good subject line examples:

  • About your order
  • Save 10% on your order at MyGreatOnlineStore
  • Complete your order and get free shipping now!
  • Still shopping?
  • Your order is still reserved for you. Act now to get it.
  • You don’t want to miss this deal… 👻

Optimize body content for click rate

When you are satisfied with your subject line, it’s time to move on to the body content. This is the part that will get users back to your store, and to their abandoned cart.

In general, the body text should follow the example of your subject line. Make sure that your paragraphs are short enough, and the Call to Action button is visible immediately without scrolling down.

Always use your highlighted fields wisely: If you offer a discount, for example, include it in the Highlighted Text and the CTA Text fields. These parts are easier to spot than others.

Customize the appearance

The Recart Design Editor allows you to customize your email even further. You can adjust the colors used in the templates. You can also upload your store logo to better fit your branding. You should always update the email templates to match your store so that users will connect the emails to the store more easily.

Adjust, evaluate, adjust evaluate…

We do our best to get you started quickly and make your life easier when it comes to optimizing emails. However, to achieve truly outstanding results, it might take a while to find the perfect combination of appearance, incentive, and content for your abandoned cart emails.

Keep experimenting and evaluate your results until you are confident that your emails are optimized.
