My Facebook Ad Account Can't Connect?

Facebook Ad Account Connection & Sponsored Messages

Due to the changes implemented by Meta regarding permission management and business management capabilities, Recart is currently unable to connect to Facebook Ad Accounts.

  • Messenger merchants are still able to connect to their Facebook Pages, and automated flows and opt-ins will still be able to run as usual. For more information on how to connect your Facebook Page to Recart, please see this article.
  • The Ad Account connection failure has unfortunately impacted our “Sponsored Message” function.

You can continue to send Sponsored Messages by manually linking them from your Facebook Ad Account to your Recart App using the instructions further below.

Important note: as these changes have come directly from Meta, we are unfortunately unable to provide further troubleshooting steps.

  • If you have followed all of the instructions and are still experiencing problems, we encourage you to contact Meta directly for further assistance. They will be able to provide you with the most up-to-date information and support.
  • We highly recommend exploring SMS marketing as a strong revenue channel that can be controlled by you with full support from the Recart team

Manually Link and Send Sponsored Messages: 

Step 1 - Copy Bot Payload

  1. Go to your Recart App

    • click on “Campaign Flows”
    • select “Sponsored Messages”

  2. Create a new sponsored message

  3. Select “m.me Link or Bot Payload”

    BPL 3

  4. Create the sponsored message you would like to send out

    • click “save”
    • name your flow and save it

  5. Click “Copy Bot Payload” in the top bar

Step 2 - Connect the Sponsored Message in Ads Manager

  1. Go to your Ads Manager account and create a new campaign

  2. Select “Engagement” and continue

  3. Click on “New Ad set with…” (second tier)
    • go to “Ad Type”
    • select “Sponsored Message”

  4. You can adjust your bid control and budget here

  5. Next will need to define or create your audience in the audience control
    • you can set your location and define factors such as age and gender
    • click on “create new” to create a custom audience or select a lookalike audience

  6. Click on “New Engagement Ad with…” (third tier)
    • go to “Message Template”
    • insert “text greeting” and an image

  7. IMPORTANT STEP → Customer Actions
    • select buttons

  8. Click “add a button”

  9. Label the button
  10. Select “Send a Postback”
  11. Paste the “Bot Payload link” from the Recart App into the “Bot Payload” field

  12. Once all is complete “Publish” the sponsored message
    • you can preview the message by clicking “share”

Once you have published these sponsored messages and they are sent out to your audience - if a customer clicks on the button then the sponsored message within the Recart App will be sent out to them.
