Recart automatically captures email addresses from your newsletter subscription forms and email subscription popups. To comply with GDPR requirements, you need to make sure that your visitors are well-informed about what kind of messages they will receive when they subscribe to your email list. Please verify that your newsletter subscription forms ask for permission to send personalized marketing emails. This way, your customers will expect Recart's personalized abandoned cart reminders in their email inbox.
Facebook Messenger is a great marketing channel due to the extremely high engagement rate and the single click subscription enabled by the Discount Widget, the Add to Cart Widget, as well as our Wheelio and Optimonk Integrations.
GDPR regulates the use of pre-checked checkboxes for subscribing visitors on your store. Don't worry, you can still use the pre-checked Messenger Widget and be 100% GDPR compliant depending on your store layout and Messenger Widget configuration.

Deleting Customer Data
According to the GDPR regulation, all customers have the right to request that all data collected about them be deleted. This personal data includes transaction history, contact information, and more. Starting from May 25, Shopify will allow you to request that a specific Customer's data be deleted from Shopify and your installed apps. If you request a customer data deletion on your Shopify Dashboard, Recart will automatically carry out all necessary deletions as required by GDPR.
