# Set Up SMS Contact Cards

Explains how Contact Cards let subscribers save your number so your messages show your brand name.

Use this guide to set up and share your Contact Card so subscribers can save your number and recognize your messages instantly.

### Why Use a Contact Card

When subscribers save your number, your messages display your brand name instead of an unknown number. This builds trust, improves recognition, and can increase open rates. Contact Cards make it easy for subscribers to save your info with one tap-including your logo, website, and support email.

### How Contact Cards Work

Recart automatically creates a default Contact Card for your account using your site name and phone number. You can customize it with additional details like a logo and description.

When you add a Contact Card to a message, subscribers receive a downloadable file they can tap to save your contact information to their phone.

**Important note:** Adding a Contact Card converts your message to MMS, which has different character limits. [More on character limits here.](/sms/writing-messages/sms-character-counting-and-limits.md)
{% endhint %}

### Customize Your Contact Card

1. Go to your [SMS Settings](https://app.recart.com/settings/sms) page.
2. Scroll down to the **Contact Card** section.
3. Upload a **Contact image** (optional).
4. Add a **Site info** description (optional).
5. Verify your **Support email address** is correct.
6. Click **Save**.

{% hint style="info" %}
Changes apply immediately. Any messages sent after saving will include the updated Contact Card.
{% endhint %}

### Best Practices

* **Recommended:** Add your Contact Card to your Welcome flow so new subscribers save your number right away.
* **Recommended:** Use a square logo (400x400px) for the best display across devices.
* **Recommended:** Keep your Site info short and branded (e.g., "Your go-to for skincare" or "Exclusive deals & updates").
* **Avoid:** Adding Contact Cards to every message - once subscribers save your number, they don't need it again.
* **Avoid:** Using PNG or GIF images - only JPG format is supported.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.recart.com/sms/getting-started/contact-card-the-easiest-way-for-your-subscribers-to-save-your-number.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
