How does my Facebook Messenger billing work?

A quick overview of our Facebook Messenger billing and attributed revenue

We only charge you based on the revenue that Recart attributes.

The more we make you, the more we charge you. That’s it. The monthly fee is calculated based on how much attributed revenue Recart made you in the given month.

I believe this is the best way to go, simply because this forces us to make you more sales. If we aren’t good enough, we starve to death. So we’ll always be giving you our best.

Will I be billed if Recart doesn’t make me money through Messenger?

The short answer: Yes.

The long answer: You’ll be charged $29 even if your attributed revenue was $0 in the last 30 days. It’s because Recart does a lot more for your store beyond the attributed revenue it makes. In other words, you generate revenue outside of Recart’s attributed revenue counter.

Here are some other perks your store gets with the subscription:

  • Build up your Messenger list. Collecting subscribers for future Facebook marketing campaigns further increases your chance to make additional revenue.

  • Provide a better user experience. Automating campaigns, such as receipt and fulfillment notifications, make it more likely for customers to return in the future.

How does Recart attribute Messenger revenue?

A sale (revenue) is attributed to Recart only if a customer opens or clicks a Messenger notification sent by Recart and makes a purchase in the next 7 days.

In certain cases, when sending Recart automated messages, Facebook will not provide us information about whether the recipient opened the message. In these cases, the 7 days conversion window will be open when the user received the message.

Recart conversion tracking update: Effective from February 19, 2018

On February 19, 2018, Facebook applied a breaking change on its Messenger platform. This change doesn’t allow partners to retrieve PSIDs from the Checkbox Widget anymore. The Facebook Messenger PSIDs (user IDs) allowed us to track open rates on the Messenger campaigns.

After this breaking change, Recart will still be able to track open rates when customers:

  • Answer one of the messages

  • Click on one of the messages

  • Subscribe through the Customer Chat

Answer one of the messages

Click on one of the messages

Subscribe through the Customer Chat

This means Recart won’t be able to track open rates on campaigns that are sent from the Discount Widget and never get answered.

  • When Messenger open rates are available, Recart will work as it did before: the 7 days conversion window will be opened at the time of opens and clicks.

  • When Messenger open rates are not available, Recart will open the 7 days conversion window when the message is sent.
